Worship on the Water is an outreach ministry of Christ Episcopal Church in Cordele. We're a member congregation of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, and a part of the Anglican communion, the third largest body of Christians in the world. So, we are a small part of a big part of God's family, and we live here in and around Cordele. Christ Church is a small congregation that has been a part of Cordele and Crisp County since their beginning. We began by meeting in area homes around 1894, and were officially established as a congregation of the Episcopal Church of Georgia in 1897. We've been your neighbors ever since.
This year we are pleased to have as the officiate for Worship on the Water the Rev. Anne Meroney. Anne Meroney is an Episcopal priest who lives in Macon. Ordained to the diaconate in 2002 and to the priesthood is 2003, Anne has served in churches in Atlanta and Macon. Since 2005 she has been a supply priest and guest preacher in many churches in the Diocese of Atlanta. Christ Church met Anne last year when she was out guest preacher and celebrant for Sunday services, and we invited her to come back for the 2008 season of Worship on the Water. Anne has an easy-going, conversational way of preaching and she makes the Gospel stories meaningful in real time. During the week, Anne ministers as a hospice chaplain in central Georgia, and is employed by United Hospice. We're a growing, energetic group, and we're trying to learn each day how to bloom where we've been planted. Worship on the Water is probably our largest undertaking, but more and more, we're doing more and more.
